Russian and British musicians to play for Iraqi children’s charity

 

We are pleased to announce a major classical concert at the refurbished Hackney Empire in aid of ‘Iraqi Child Victims of War’ on

 

Monday November 1 at 7.30 pm.

 

All proceeds are to help finance a rehabilitation centre for children in war torn Falluja.

 

The world renowned Medici Quartet are to join the celebrated Moscow Piano Trio who are flying to London especially to play this concert as part of the 7 days 4 Iraq initiative. Part of the programme is the world premiere of Jordanian composer M.I Qhandour’s piece ‘Cry Jerusalem’. 

 

Dr Quandour will be present and Mayor of London Ken Livingstone will open the concert and speak about the context in which it is being staged.

 

This concert is the first in the series of cultural events; ‘7 Days 4 Iraq which is not only to raise money for the children of Iraq but to give the Iraqi people an alternative view of the people of Britain..

 

Stop the War, CND and the charity ‘Iraqi Child victims of War’ are the joint organisers and sponsors of this important week which coincides with the US presidential election.
